it's all about perspective
There were 2 things that made my day the otherday. 2 things that were so simple; but were so incredible that it made me feel like everything was alright. A hug from my incredible mother, who sat and listened to me as I told her of my woes and was relieved by her warm embrace. The second thing is a cup of a peppermint tea to help put me at ease. So simple, yet so life altering for me. I savoured that tea and realised thee most beautiful thing in my life, my mum.

This may be a challenge for most, as nowadays we all tend to be in rush mode as we scamper from place to place trying to get all we can get done in a day. Most aren’t able to sit down and take a moment to enjoy even the simplest things in life, just because we have to get so much done. Even I am guilty of this. That is why I want you to try and do something for me. I want you to savour something. Whether it be, a few extra minutes in bed as you stretch and rejoice in the power of rest; or a couple extra seconds in the shower; or even the take in the aroma of your morning herbal tea. Take these moments and turn it into a moment of bliss and escalate them so you can start seeing the simple beauty around you.
Let’s start with what is the definition of savour? The dictionary defines it as, “to give oneself to the enjoyment of.” So, I tried to savour something today. I didn’t really understand how I was meant to savour anything because I guess I never really comprehended what it meant to savour something since I am always on the go. But it came to be at such a time that was not expected. I found solace and I savoured every long second of it. As I drove home after a long day of school and a late night of work; I turned off the wondrous sounds of Florence and the Machine to savour solace. In those few minutes complete peace, calmness, and serenity was all I could feel. My brain had turned off and was not running wild with thoughts; it was just complete peace within. In that short moment of solace it alleviated something that was weighing down on my heart. What was on my hearts mind – I have no clue but for that moment I felt comforted and at ease. Today, it had been decided that is all I needed to savour, complete peace for a few minutes and it was joyous; absolutely joyous.
Try to take a moment of every day to savour something and to appreciate it and you will start feeling happiness and almost like you have some control over your hectic schedule. And remember, life is beautiful so savour the moments!

kalos kai agathos
I wanted to share with you something that I have been doing of late, and feel as though can make your day shine a little brighter and to bring you both gratitude and happiness. Take a moment in your day to pick out 3 things that are beautiful. Take notice and appreciate them in the moment and for the moment; savour them; then take a moment to write it down in a special place where you will be able to look back and remember the pleasure it gave you in the moment.
I thought that this task would be simple and easy. Something to quickly notice, I really thought that it would just jump out at me and into my mind. I noticed the lovely scenery of the mountains as I drove to my physical therapist’s office in the early morning as the sun was rising up behind it; and I thought, oh that is one beautiful thing. However, I thought the things I should think beautiful should take time and have them come to me…I shouldn’t be out looking for them. For a whole 2 days nothing would come to me. I looked; I searched, and still nothing. But then it came to me, three beautiful things in my life. Three things that I normally take for granted three things which are so important [to me, and maybe even you].
Positivity it has such an effect on not only yourself, but those around you too. When positive, there is a complete change in the way you look at everything. And if you take the time to notice, when you are positive you rub off on people and they become to be positive or at least it will make their day shine a little brighter. Time; we all take time for granted. But, there is only so much time in a day. You should be taking full advantage of time. Every second you are here on earth, every minute is a choice. A choice to let the ones you love know you love them; a choice to be optimistic and have a positive effect on those around you. Time is often taken for granted, but there is only so much time one has – you must take full advantage of it! As Pres. Thomas S. Monson said “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family. One day each of us will run out of tomorrows”. Creativity, I was looking through my cupboard the other day and found my scrapbook, which hasn’t been worked on in at least a year, then I noticed my artworks hidden with it. It made me nostalgic for the days where I had the time to just sit down and paint or sit down and create. It has made me want to go back to doing creative things; it’s just a matter of creating time. And that is really important. Creating time for yourself to do something you love a well as doing things with family and friends.
I noticed after I wrote down my 3 beautiful things in my journal that they all somehow ended up tying into together. Time, positivity, and creativity are just as important as the other and when you sit down to do this, if you choose to do so; reread them and try to constantly put them into action or take more time to notice and appreciate them, it will surely make a difference in your life.
today I walked barefoot, everywhere.
This is my very first blog, and I don't know what to say...so I hope you enjoy reading what I enjoy writing and have come to understand.
The purpose of my blog is not to lecture you on life; nor is it to tell you how to receive happiness. But rather it is a blog that will hopefully help you realise your potential for lasting fulfilment; to change your mind and your attitude for life; to feel thankfulness as well as offering an optimal approach to life, if you choose to do so. This blog is for you and you alone. To ultimately awaken your joy; to create experiences in your everyday life where you see the beauty all around and can take the moments to appreciate it.
Hi there, I am Elyse...and this is me :)
