This may be a challenge for most, as nowadays we all tend to be in rush mode as we scamper from place to place trying to get all we can get done in a day. Most aren’t able to sit down and take a moment to enjoy even the simplest things in life, just because we have to get so much done. Even I am guilty of this. That is why I want you to try and do something for me. I want you to savour something. Whether it be, a few extra minutes in bed as you stretch and rejoice in the power of rest; or a couple extra seconds in the shower; or even the take in the aroma of your morning herbal tea. Take these moments and turn it into a moment of bliss and escalate them so you can start seeing the simple beauty around you.
Let’s start with what is the definition of savour? The dictionary defines it as, “to give oneself to the enjoyment of.” So, I tried to savour something today. I didn’t really understand how I was meant to savour anything because I guess I never really comprehended what it meant to savour something since I am always on the go. But it came to be at such a time that was not expected. I found solace and I savoured every long second of it. As I drove home after a long day of school and a late night of work; I turned off the wondrous sounds of Florence and the Machine to savour solace. In those few minutes complete peace, calmness, and serenity was all I could feel. My brain had turned off and was not running wild with thoughts; it was just complete peace within. In that short moment of solace it alleviated something that was weighing down on my heart. What was on my hearts mind – I have no clue but for that moment I felt comforted and at ease. Today, it had been decided that is all I needed to savour, complete peace for a few minutes and it was joyous; absolutely joyous.
Try to take a moment of every day to savour something and to appreciate it and you will start feeling happiness and almost like you have some control over your hectic schedule. And remember,  life is beautiful so savour the moments!
